“ Great food and fast service. The hamburger is so delicious. It is way better than a Burger King Whopper. This messy to eat so beware. The crinkle cut fries have just the right amount of salt in them. It is always funny to hear when they call your number to pick up your order. They almost always have a number rhyme. For example: 38 it is time for you to skate. Their Chicago Style hot dog is also a favorite of many people. If you have the time it is great to sit indoors and enjoy the weather or time signs and photos. ”
“ Chicago Street food that should not be missed. Quality of the food is terrific and portion size is awesome. Well worth the visit. ”
“ Always great food. Big beef sandwich is the best, and the chocolate cake is a must have. ”
“ Very efficient, the food was ready right away. Large portions. The young man outside told us to check our bag to make sure we had everything, an added plus. ”
“ Visiting from the west coast and everyone says we need to visit a Portillo’s. They did not disappoint. Simple menu, easy pickup, and plenty of seating options. Decently priced and very delicious food and portions. I can see why people come here. I want to go back and try the hot dogs! ”
“ Cool diner. Loved the theme. Good options on the menu. I had the bowel, and a small fry. You place your order at the counter and pick up at the counter when they call you. Food was made quickly. We dined inside and there is plenty seating available. I enjoyed it. ”
“ This place was warm and welcoming from the moment we walked in. The decor has a charming 60's vibe, and the semi-loud music gives it a vibrant, energetic atmosphere. You can hear the kitchen staff actively working on orders, which adds to the lively ambiance. We started our order at the self-serve kiosks. While it's convenient, it’s also a bit unsettling to see how quickly we're moving into a robotic/AI era with no human interaction. When the kiosk prompted us for a tip before we were even served, I couldn’t help but chuckle. I’m placing my own order and getting my own drink—what exactly is the tip for? Once we placed the order, no receipt was printed, but we remembered our number. The order numbers don’t seem to follow any logical sequence, which is fine, but a bit odd. On the upside, I really appreciated the screen showing which orders were being worked on—that was helpful and reassuring. Now for a couple of letdowns: there was no mayo available for my hot dog. Having grown up eating hot dogs with mayo, this was a genuine disappointment. Also, the malt didn’t taste like a true malt—it was more of a very sweet shake. Despite those quirks, the overall experience was great. The energy, the vibe, and of course, the classic hot dogs made it all worthwhile. Thanks for keeping the hot dog tradition alive and well! ”
“ Burger was quality and substantial, staff were friendly enough, vibe was neat. Was a bit slow to get the food (simple order) ”
